Skunk Ashes to Deter Skunks

I want all these skunks to stop going in my back yard at night and tearing it up looking for (and finding and eating) my precious earthworms.

Do I just dust the ashes on my back yard?

Essentially, yes: just sprinkle the ashes in the area where you find them problematic.
